the Breakers was a summer "cottage" of the Vanderbilt family in Newport, Rhode Island. It has 70 rooms and 62,482 square feet of actual living space. It was used only 4-6 weeks a year by the family. It is owned today by the Preservation Society of Newport County and is visited by approx. 500,000 people each year.
